Don Bosco Navajeevan, Vizag, 22 May 2020: DBNJ, Vizag conducted an awareness programme on Covid-19, while distributing food, fruits for 200 families; 500 masks for migrants, Slum children and women in Ekalvya Colony, R & B Banglow Road, Vizag on 22nd May 2020 and for the street dwellers of Gandhi Nagar Basty on 23rd May 2020.
It is worst neglected area of the society. They are rag pickers, sellers of toys on the footpaths and people ask for alms. They are without identity of their own. Literally, pavements are their homes for their survival. During these 60 days of lock-down they have no means of survival but looking for food or provisions. While they are without documents like ration cards, Aadhar cards and voter ID cards, they are denied of the civil supplies. Don Bosco Navajeevan, Vizag found the way to be part of this community through the distribution of food and masks. The Salesians and the staff have sufficiently instructed them on health and hygiene to fight Covid-19 Pandemic. The recipients expressed their gratitude and love towards Don Bosco Navajeevan.
