Navajeevan Bala Bhavan (NJBB), Vijayawada, 22 November 2020: Navajeevan Bala Bhavan held the privilege of launching the Forum for Migrants in Vijayawada urban. The inauguration was held in the esteemed presence of Shri. A. Md. Imtiaz, Collector and District Magistrate, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. His gracious presence as chief guest and the presence of other dignitaries multiplied the significance of the event. Fr Ratna Kumar Sdb, Director-NJBB and National Migrant Team Member, warmly welcomed dignitaries and presented the slide share about the origins and further proceedings of migration. It elucidated the historical background of migration, reasons for migration and consequences of migration. He said ‘Krishna district would be considered the first district to start this initiative of working for migrants.’ It would own a contact helpline number as many other forums have for its 24×7 availability. This contact facility prevents migrants from being gullible. It would elevate their hopes and career too. It also incorporated the living examples and sharing the life stories of the street children, rescued from distinct territories and risky situations.

Collector in his message conveyed a word of appreciation to Navajeevan Don Bosco society for its many initiatives since the ages and for its collaboration with the government. He said ‘Don Bosco society is highly honoured to have worked for the young and has been rendering remarkable services with innovation and unusual initiatives.’ Further he mentioned that FORUM FOR MIGRANTS is one of such contemporary evidence and witnesses of the creativity of Navajeevan Bala Bhavan. The struggle of migrants during pandemic is vivid to everyone’s eyes. This forum would best serve the migrants to chronic generations to come. He also shared his experiences on migrant’s movement during Covid 19. He finally wished the staff and management to bring out the best services through this forum. Besides, the inauguration had a blending of cultural moments. The Chiguru children mesmerized the participants with their thematic cultural programme. The entire programme lasted for one hour and reached its edges after the departure of the Collector, our chief guest.
