Hyderabad, 7 January 2021: The province of St Joseph, Hyderabad is indeed glad to welcome five new priests on Thursday. It is a joyful day for everyone. It is a joyful day for the Church, since the ministry of Jesus will continue through them along with hundreds of thousands of priests of God. It is a joyful day for the world since every priest is a sign of God’s love, a sign that he is still working in the world, still carrying out his plan of redemption. It is a joyful day for us Salesians and for province of St Joseph, Hyderabad because the Lord has gifted five more priests to serve him in the way of Don Bosco.
Deacon Salibindla Praveen was ordained in his hometown on 29 December 2020 by Most Rev Govindu Joji, DD., Bishop of Nalgonda and other four deacons Muthyala Sudhakar sdb, Thumma Pradeep sdb, Kakumanu Praveen sdb and Pale Justin sdb on 7 January 2021 by Bishop Emeritus Most Rev Thumma Bala DD., Archdiocese of Hyderabad. The ceremony was held at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad in the Shrine of Don Bosco.
In his homily, Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, the Provincial said “I would like to cite the four fold advice that our archbishop emeritus, Most Rev. Thumma Bala used to give during his ordination homilies. A priest who prays, a priest who is holy, a priest who proclaims, a people’s priest”. The Bishop emeritus and the new priests and parents of the priests were felicitated in the Vecchi Hall. The new priests thanked the province, formators, well-wishers who formed them to be the salt of eternal life and to be amidst people, leading them to Christ as the Good Shepherd.
