1 March 2021, Apparayudupalem, Visakhapatnam: The renovated pond of the Apparayudupalem in Panchadarla panchayath was inaugurated by Mr Ramanamurthy Raju, the local Member of Assembly on 1st, March 2021. This was attended by the Asian Paints staff Mr Rajiv Gupta, the General Manager, Local Asian Plant, Fr Salibindla Balashowry, Director, Don Bosco Navajeevan, Fr James Cheruvattur, Administrator and the local leaders and one hundred and Fifty farmers and villagers.
During his words of welcome Fr Balashowry briefed about renovation of the pond and how farmers are benefited. He further explained to the people that the pond which was barren now able to store 21,000 KL of water and the farmers could cultivate paddy and now can second crop and waiting for the yield. All this happened just because of the pond renovation and he thanked the Asian paints specially Mr Andrew who gave the project to Bosconet. He also acknowledged the support rendered by Mr Rajeev Varma, Mr Sanjeevi and other local plant staff in the process of pond renovation.
On this occasion the MLA Mr Ramanamurthy Raju appreciated the support of the Asian Paints in renovation of the Apparayudupalem pond and their services to the villages in and around his constituency. He narrated other projects like check dams, laying pipelines and science lab supported by Asian paints in other villages and he requested Asian Paints to take part in the developmental activities of the area.
Mr Rajeev Gupta, the general Manager, local Asian Paints plant expressed that the support to the pond renovation was given as part of Corporate Social Responsibility and he emphasized that this is the responsibility of the farmers and the local people to sustain the pond hereafter. He thanked the local MLA for accepting their invitation for having inaugurated the pond. He also acknowledged the work done by Don Bosco and thanked them for completing the work successfully.
During this inaugural ceremony, the pond was handed over to the local committee that consisted of 5 members. Mr Nukaraju one of the committee members expressed their gratitude to Asian Paints for their support in realizing this dream and he ensured that they would look after the maintenance of the pond by renting out the pond for fishing or look for other possibilities.
On this occasion, the plantation of plants was done by Mr Ramanamurthy Raju, MLA and Mr. Rajeev Gupta, General Manager, Asian Paints on the side of the bund. The MLA released the Curriculum on water prepared for the water wise club members formed in 9 schools. The water wise club children from Maduthuru Zilla Parishad high school also took part in the program and gave dance performance and enacted a skit on save water save life theme which was liked by all.
