BIRDY, Hyderabad, 19 July 2023: To strengthen the faith of young people in the Church both in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Catholic Bishops Conference (TCBC) Youth Commission gathered on 19th July 2023 at Birdy, Hyderabad. The newly appointed youth commission in-charge Bishop Rev. Rayarala Vijayakumar, PIME, Regional Secretary Fr Praveen Kumar, Fr Thomas Santiagu, sdb., the Provincial of Hyderabad Province, Fr Rayappa, sdb., the Rector of BIRDY, Fr Yervua Joji, sdb., the Province Youth Director and Regional Directors and all the Youth Directors of 14 dioceses were present with a goal to revamp the presence of youth in the church.
The meeting is aimed at strengthening evangelization among the youth and making it more fruitful. Addressing the gathering, Fr Yervua Joji, sdb., presented the present faith condition of young people in both Telugu states based on his research paper. “It’s high time that we all need to put our resources together to guide and accompany our young people in their faith journey” he added and stressed his concern.
“We will do all that we can to help young people to grow in their faith,” said the newly elected youth commission Bishop Vijaya Kumar. Mr James Sylvester has explained the important role played by Young Student’s Movement (YSM), and Young Christian Students (YCS). The church of India is organizing many activities to bring together all these movements. Mrs Regina has explained the upcoming faith events at the National level.
It’s said that ‘coming together is a new beginning’ and it gave reassurance to look forward with lot of hope. A new plan was drawn up and presented for the year 2023-2024 by Mr Krishnakar, the advisory member of TCBC.
