Don Bosco Academy Nalgonda has organized an AIDS awareness programme in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) a local NGO of the District on 6 of January in the college premises. In association with the state government of Andhra Pradesh, the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK)has been conducting the awareness programs in every nuke and cranny of Nalgonda district. As part of the HIV/AIDS awareness programme a team led by Mr. Ramesh, the Director of NYK has visited Don Bosco Academy on Monday. The students of degree and PG college have actively taken part in this awareness programme. The major sessions of the programme are reflective and interactive based ones. In his speech Mr Ramesh has elucidated the history and the present state of spread of the disease in India, especially in the state. A counselling session by Linga Swamy, the councillor of NYK, has served its purpose not only by bringing awareness on the virus but also by motivating the young students to participate in blood donation camps and to plant saplings in the campus etc. A thanks giving ceremony organized by the mangement in the presence of Fr Anand the director of the Academy and Fr Balashowry the Principal of the Academy has boosted the spirits of NYK team. Fr Balashowry has thanked them for their efforts and their interest in the young people. The call for the youngsters to be the catalysts in transforming the society by Mr Chandra Shekhar from NYK has set the platform for the students to direct their minds towards their own villages.
