On Jan 11, 2013 the Salesian Province of Hyderabad celebrated the Provincial Community Day, hosted by DB, Chandur and DB Academy, Nalgonda. The celebrations commenced at DB Academy with a grand reception where the Provincial and the council along with rectors, in-charges, parish priests and the Salesians were cordially welcomed. The children and the youth of the Academy led all the Salesians in a procession to the Church for the animation programme, accompanied by the Academy band, dances and by showers of colourful flower petals. A well prepared and well participated animation programme on celebrating the differences was organized by Fr. Anand, the in-charge of the Academy.
The college youth presented various models of unity in diversity and the significance of staying together through an exhibition. During the sumptuous fellow-ship meal Fr. Provincial cut the cake and later lucky gifts were distributed. Sports play an integral part of the life of a Salesian. A basketball match was organized and uniquely all the four teams received trophies for participation. The teams looked professional in their Don Bosco T-shirts sponsored by the Ramanthapur community.
After the first part of the celebration, the confreres travelled to DB Chandur for the culmination of the celebrations. The rector, Fr. K.K. Joseph along with the confreres of the community warmly welcomed the Salesians. After spending sometime going around the campus (for some it was the maiden visit to DB Chandur), at 5.30 pm the members gathered in the Church for the most important moment of the celebration, the Eucharist. Fr. Provincial presided over the Eucharist and Fr. Gopu Anand preached the homily in which he invited all to thank God for the wonders that he is able to accomplish through the Salesians of the province and he invited the members to be rooted in Jesus and elicited eight attitudes needed to build up fraternity and communion.
After the Eucharist, the Provincial and the councilors were felicitated by Fr. Sebastian John and Fr. K.P. Mathew who appreciated and thanked them for their leadership and service in the Province. After the felicitations a typical Chandur style cuisine was relished by all.
Thanks to the efforts of DB, Chandur and DB Academy, Nalgonda communities and the confreres: Frs. K.K. Joseph, Gopu Anand, Vatti Balashowry, Pasala Bhaskar, Narisetti Sagar, Dc. Melchior, Brs. Inna Reddy, Naresh, staff and students. Kudos to them as it was a memorable Provincial Community Day.
