June 18, Ponnur: "St.Antony, The Miracle Worker!" was the watchword for everyone who attended the feast of the saint at Machavaran village in Ponnur. The feast day's celebrations started off with the Holy Eucharist at 6:30 p.m. in the village church filled with the devotees from Ponnur parish and nearby sub-stations thronged to receive the blessings of the saint. Fr.Mattukoya Maridas of P.T.Parru Parish along with Fr. K.S.Jospeh, the director of Ponnur, Don Bosco, Fr.Marreddy and Fr. Arul Das celebrated the feast day's mass. In his homily Fr. Maridas highlighted the miracles worked by St.Antony during his life time and shared some of his own experiences. Special prayers to St. Antony were conducted by the people. They also shared the miracles worked by the saint in their personal lives. The Parishners of Machavaram dished out the feastday dinner for the faithful in the church campus. The special bread of St. Antony shared among the faithful on this occasion invoked their devotion. With lights arranged for the feast, decorations all around, streets bustling with people all the night, the feast went on uninterrupted till midnight.
