Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, January 31, 2024: The Don Bosco Provincial House, came alive with joy and festivity as the Salesians and members of the Salesian Family gathered to celebrate the Feast of Don Bosco on January 31, 2024.

The occasion brought together Diocesan Priests, religious priests and sisters, Salesian Sisters, Salesian Cooperators, Past Pupils, Institute Staff, Well Wishers, and Collaborators, creating a vibrant community of around 250 participants. Among them were 50 Priests and religious who were concurrently attending an International Research Seminar on Sharing Salesian Charism and Mission with people of neighboring religions.

Fr Thomas Santiagu, sdb., Provincial of the Province of Hyderabad extended a warm welcome to all present, setting the tone for a day of shared joy and reflection. The main celebrant for the feast was Fr Ivo Coelho, sdb, General Councillor for Formation. Fr Coelho’s emphasis on the relevance of Don Bosco’s educative methods for today’s youth suggests a belief in the enduring value of a compassionate and preventive approach to education. This approach prioritizes understanding and guiding the youth with love and care rather than resorting to harsh disciplinary measures with a reference to “dream at nine” that likely alludes to a significant event in Don Bosco’s life.

Fr Garlapati Michael Kishore, sdb., the Vice Provincial, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging and appreciating everyone who contributed to a vibrant and meaningful celebration of Don Bosco’s Feast.

The day’s festivities concluded with a heartwarming agape meal at the Don Bosco Provincial House, providing an opportunity for further camaraderie and fellowship among the participants. The event not only marked the Feast of Don Bosco but also served as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, strengthening the bonds within the Salesian community.

The celebration exemplified the spirit of Don Bosco’s teachings and legacy, creating an atmosphere of joy, learning, and unity among the Salesian Family.
