IMG_1056Don Bosco Youth Animation (DBYA) – South Asia (SA) Groups and Movements conducted a training programme for Youth Animators and Leaders in Salesian Pedagogy and Forming Youth Animating Teams. This Seminar was held at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad on the 13th and 14thSeptember, 2014. The programme witnessed the active participation of 32 Youth Leaders and Youth Animators from Tiruchy, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkatta.

The progoramme commenced with the prayer service placing under the care of the Trinitarian God. Fr. Thathireddy Vijay Bhaskar, the Vice Provincial of the St. Joseph’s Province of Hyderabad welcomed every participant and enkindled in them the fire towards an active participation of the two day programme.

Fr. Brian Moras sdb, with his nonchalant yet professional bravura, presented the Salesian pedagogy to the participants. He stressed on the point that the Preventive System is the synthesis of Don Bosco’s Educative Ministry. That it is a Spirituality, Pedagogy and a style of Pastoral Action.  Interest in the young person as a person and a complete formation as human and Christian. He put forward the three pillars of the Salesian Preventive System, Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness with a personal touch to it.

The day proceeded with the presentation of the Handbook for Youth Groups and Animators, titled YOUTH SPACES. It is a powerful and elegant tool for all Youth Animators and Leaders. It presents the Vision, Mission, Objectives and Guidelines for the Salesian Youth Groups and Movements in India.. The 4 step method of the Don Bosco Youth Groups with 1. Experience 2. Sharing 3. Discernment and 4. Action is innovative, very pratical.
This tool, which is aimed at enhancing the involvement of youth in Salesian institutions and presences presents both the theoretical and the practical side of animating youth groups.

The Core and crux of the day was the emphasis on forming Youth Animating Teams in the provinces. Each participant was encouraged to carry this experience of Animators working as a team with the kit of Animating youth groups by themselves.

The experience helped them to personalize the whole Salesian pedagogy and form Youth Animating teams in the respective provinces.

The age old proverb of teaching a man to fish, was put into action by Fr Brian Moras with a practical experience of Creating a youth group with the participants. The participants elected a President, a Secretary, a Treasurer for the Second day’s proceedings.

These two days of experience and training, is a seed which is carried back to the provinces, wherein implanted and grow to be a Vibrant Salesian Youth Movement. The training enriched the participants in Salesian Youth Pedagogy  and in forming vibrant Youth Animating Teams and youth groups.
