DB Navajeevan, Ramanthapur, 9th April 2015: It is a memorable day in the history of Don Bosco Navajeevan Rehabilitation Centre, Ramanthapur. The present Vocational Training Centre is upgraded with new and latest machinery in the sections of Printing, Welding Carpentry, Tailoring and Bakery with the support of GENPACT India. We are very happy and thankful to employees and management of GENPACT India for the care and support towards welfare of street involved children.
Ms. Sucharita Thakur, Vice-president was the Chief Guest and Mr. Radha Krishna Patel (RK) & a team of 15 employees were other Guests of Honour. The Inauguration Programme started at 2.30pm with welcome band by our school going children. Prior to it all the guests interacted with children and both children and guest enjoyed being coming to know each other. Once the chief guest arrived the official inaugural ceremony began. For the Inaugural programme children performed few dances and skit. Later, Fr. Bellamkonda Sudhakar, Director in his introductory words welcomed the chief guest and other representatives from GENPACT, he recollected all the activities that are done in collaboration with GENPACT for the past one and half year. He thanked for the support they have extended towards these children’s rehabilitation. He thanked whole heartedly all the employees of GENPACT India for their generosity and continuous support.
Remarkable event of the day was skit on “Science” performed by our boys from vocation training centre and who are also preparing for their open tenth. It was nice to see them confidently reading out the dialogues. None of them have much education background. The dances put up by the children were appreciated. Ms. Sucharita Thakur chief guest of the day was very appreciative of the work done by Don Bosco for the most needy and deserving children of the society. She also said that she is VERY HAPPY to be part of this programme and wished all the vocational training children to utilize all the resources that are available and wanted to see the children to study well and to settle well in their life. She also recalled her experience being part of Don Bosco for past one and half year.
Another surprising event the dance put up by one of the Genpact employee by name Terence who was a past pupil of Don Bosco Egmore. He was very happy to see a Don Bosco home because he himself grew up with Salesian for about 8 years.
Towards the end, vocational training children and staff proceeded to the work shop to Inaugurate the new Machinery. Later the Instructors of the particular section demonstrated the use of these Machinery.
