With a boom in real estate across metros and major cities, there is an emerging need for people trained in skills like plumbing, electrical fitting, refrigeration and painting.
Rapidly expanding urban landscape and growing urbanization has resulted in multiplexes, apartment complexes and gated communities. There is a constant need for repairs and maintenance and an increase has been observed in demand for these services accompanied by a shortage in skilled manpower. Multi-skill training is a comprehensive course that covers the trades of Electrical fitting, Plumbing and Air-conditioning & Refrigeration.
The one-year residential training commenced in September, 2014 in three parts of four months for each trade. Twelve young boys from neighboring villages joined the course and two discontinued due to family emergencies. Ten of them have successfully completed the training at DBHRDC. The Centre provides for adequate space for physical, mental and spiritual exercise. Basics in Computers, and Spoken English are an integral part of the course. On 24th October, 2015, Fr. P. Arul Das sdb, BSK Director and Director of DBHRDC presented certificates to all the 10 candidates who had successfully completed the training.
As an extension, these 10 trainees will undergo an advanced training in Electrical Fitting at Bangalore. The training to be held at DB Skill Mission is supported by Schneider Electric India. Post training, all of them will be job placed.
