Hyderabad, 9 November 2015: ‘Review, reshape and rejuvenate our life and mission’ was the slogan of the Provincial Chapter IX of the Province of St. Joseph, Hyderabad. It was held on 9th to 12th November, 2015 in Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad. Fifty-seven confreres, including three Salesian Coadjutors besides four observers (two sisters from SMI and two Salesian Cooperators) took part in the Chapter.
The atmosphere of the Chapter was made conducive because of the prior preparations made by the Chapter Preparatory Commission and by the Provincial House Community. The main topics of the discussion were: i.) Implementation of the deliberations of General Chapter 27, ii.) Reshaping the Salesian Presences of the Province, iii.) Provincial Strategic Plan (2015 – 2021), and iv.) Review of the Provincial Formation Plan. Contribution of every individual confrere and community was taken into account during these days of discussions.
The Chapter began with the recollection preached by Fr. MALLAVARAPU Sunder (TCBC Secretary for Religious). He called upon the Chapter members to have the thirst for saving souls and passion for the mission of Jesus. The discussions were also held in six groups based on the ministry namely, Animation, Education, Formation, Parish, Technical Education and Young at Risk.
The four days of the Chapter were hectic as well as timed out well. Ample time was given to express the views and to listen to what one would vision as a process of reshaping the Salesian Presences of the Province. Each and every life of the community and animation centre of the province was reviewed. Chapter was able to take necessary decisions concerning the urgent needs and emerging situation that is prevailing. Certainly this Chapter has brought
in a fresh breath in our way of being and carrying out our ministry
