Don Bosco School, Bandlaguda, 15 August 2019: “At the dawn of history India started on her unending quest, and trackless centuries are filled with her striving and the grandeur of her successes and her failures. Through good and ill fortune alike she has never lost sight of that quest…” this recitation from Jawaharlal Nehru’s historic ‘Tryst With Destiny’ speech given at the stroke of midnight on 15th August 1947, marked the beginning of the India’s 73rd Independence Day celebrations at Don Bosco School.

The students and staff were honoured to have Rev. Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, President of Don Bosco School as the Chief Guest, and Rev. Fr Rajesh, Rev. Fr Rayappa, Rev. Fr Baly and six volunteers for Don Bosco Institutes from Austria, as guests who were welcomed by Rev. Fr Chinnappa, Principal Don Bosco School and students with a Guard of Honour.

After the hoisting of our National Flag and singing of the National Anthem, rich tributes were paid to our freedom fighters in the form of a prayer, speeches, songs, dances and a skit. Class 10 students enacted the historic events that shaped our freedom movement; which was truly a heart-rending performance that evoked deep gratitude for the immense sacrifice made by our freedom fighters.

Rev. Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar in his address spoke about how each one of us should feel proud of the tremendous progress that India as a nation has made since its independence. He also reminded students that everyone has a responsibility towards building a united and integrated country. The school also took the opportunity to wish Rev. Fr. Baly for his birthday along with Jhansi teacher and a few other students. The program came to a close with a colourful patriotic dance medley by class 3 to 8 students and a vote of thanks from the Principal.
