Don Bosco Navajeevan, Vijayawada, 19-21 August 2019: A three-day seminar was held for the staff at Don Bosco Navajeevan, Vijayawada. Thirty staff participated in this training programme. Resource persons were Fr Donthi Raja sdb and Mr Francis, the state coordinator, APCRAF. Fr Ratna, the director of Don Bosco Navajeevan, introduced the resource persons to the staff and encouraged them to focus on techniques and skills required to guide and accompany the young. The purpose of the training programme was to sharpen the counselling skills of the staff and to meet current issues and problems of the Young at Risk.
The daily schedule was 8.30 am – 4.30 pm Counselling Skills by Fr Donthi Raja, 4.30 pm – 6.30 awareness programme on the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and Legal Matters by Mr Francis.
The three-day training in counselling was ended with concluding remarks by Fr Donthi Raja. As the Province Youth Director, Rev. Fr Donthi Raja has vast experience working with adolescent children and youth and training the trainers in counselling skills. He also is about to complete his PhD in Psychology, and therefore, his expertise was deeply appreciated by the participants. The staff were overjoyed with the sessions and were enriched with a lot resourcefulness in their hearts.
