St Paul’s Seminary, Nuzvid, 21 August 2019: 21st August 2019 marks the feast of Pope Pius X. Don Bosco’s creativity marked the style of the Salesian Cooperators from the beginning – they included teachers, sports coaches, theatre and music artists, catechists and mothers … and in the course of these 143 years the Salesian Cooperators have faithfully followed the project of Don Bosco and have updated the legacy. Several figures of holiness have arisen among them, starting with Venerable Mamma Margaret and continuing with venerable Attilio Giordani and Edvige Carboni, Blessed Alexandrina da Costa and Giuseppe Toniolo and St Joseph Marello, Founder of the Oblates of St Joseph.
Thus, the cooperators at Nuzvid have celebrated ‘Salesians Cooperators Day’ at St Paul’s Seminary, Nuzvid. Giving importance to Green alliance and Nation Building the cooperators under the guidance of Fr Anil Gangarapu, Rector and coordinator for Salesian Cooperators at Nuzvid, have planted 30 mango saplings in the campus along with brothers of the seminary. Fr Garlapati Kishore, Rector, Don Bosco School, Gunadala and the Delegate for Salesian Family was invited as the main celebrant and chief guest of the event. He also blessed new table tennis board on this day.
There were around 40 Salesian cooperators and their family members who graced with their presence for the Eucharist and the cultural programme. The neighbouring parish priest was invited too who help in the pastoral ministry of the cooperators and the brothers. All of them were given a rose plant each so that they too take part in the process of protecting the nature. There were two mimes by brothers with the themes ‘Nation Building’ and ‘Environmental Awareness’. One of the cooperators Mr Elia who worked as a catechist for 50 years was honoured and was felicitated by the fathers and cooperators. He was appreciated for his service in the seminary as ‘Kolatam’ dance teacher. The Salesian Cooperators’ Day was concluded with a fellowship meal. Mr Bethe Joseph the province coordinator thanked everyone who had taken part in this celebration.
