Don Bosco Navajeevan, Ramanthapur, 17 November 2019: Children’s Mela was organized in association with LCRI (Local Catholic Religious Institutions) hosted by Don Bosco Navajeevan, Hyderabad for the year 2019 during Child Rights Week. It was conducted at Don Bosco Rehabilitation Centre, Ramanthapur, one of the institutions of Don Bosco Navajeevan. There were 12 Institutions that took part in the event.
The number of participating children from each institution is: 4 DBNJ Homes: 200, JMJ Sneha Sadan, Miyapur: 50, Auxillium Navajeevana, Uppal: 50, Navajeevana Vikas, Habsiguda: 25, St. Ann’s Prem Nivas, Mettuguda: 10, Montfort Nilayam, Ramanthapur: 50, Thara, Bowenpally: 50, Shanti Sadan Charitable Trust, Mallapur: 10 and Navajyothi Niketan, Church Gagillapur: 10. Total 12 CCIs participated having a total of 455 Children. 50 staff and volunteers also took part in this event.
In the month of August during LCRI meeting at Begumpet, the decision to conduct this event was taken up. Later on 21st October 2019, Fr. Sudhakar Bellamkonda SDB, LCRI President of Hyderabad Unit called for a meeting at Don Bosco Navajeevan, New Bhoiguda, to form a core committee to organize Children’s Mela. The core committee met on 9th November 2019 at Don Bosco Rehabilitation Centre, Ramanthapur for final plans and preparations for the Event.
All the children from 12 Institutions have gathered by 8.30 am at DBRC, Ramanthapur. After the breakfast the inauguration started at 9.45 am. The Celebrations started with a Prayer Dance by the Children of Don Bosco Prem Seva Sadan, Hayath Nagar.
Later Fr Sleevaraju has distributed the prizes to the children assisted by Brothers and volunteers. After the prize distribution, Fr Sudhakar Bellamkonda, President LCRI gave vote of thanks. He thanked each and every one who was part of this Children’s Mela and thanked the sponsors in a special way for their generous contributions. The programme was concluded by 5 pm.
