Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, 10-11 January 2020: Cleric’s meet was scheduled on 10th and 11th of January at Provincial House in Bandlaguda, Hyderabad. The two day meet was animated and organized with great vigour on the significant topics of Self-Care and Salesian Vocational Growth and its Suitability. One may be heavily loaded with humpty number of activities and responsibilities, but it shall not substitute self-care. One should create space and time for oneself so as to grow in his Salesian vocation and discern his suitability. Our heart should pay attention to our inner anguish more than external, noisy activities. Self-care is a dynamic word which inhibits spiritual, physical, psychological and social elements. Self-care also incorporates personal plan of formation, manifestation, spiritual direction and community life.
Fr Thomas Santiagu, the Vice-provincial, in his talk highlighted the significance of growing in fulness as a Salesian and discover vocational suitability. He animated the clerics for two sessions. After every topic, the clerics felt the emergence of group discussion and presentation of accumulated ideas. Every topic had its roots in GC 28: What kind of Salesians are we for the youth of today? His sessions left the clerics a lasting imprint on their minds to assess one’s own personality development and its growth as brothers in temporary profession. He has placed the topics in its suitable context.
The afternoon session was animated by Fr Provincial with great enthusiasm. He presented the value of reading books, how books can open one’s horizon and extend perspective. This great quality has been passed on by Don Bosco to all the Salesians and it has become part of Salesian culture. In his presentation, he entailed the Seven Habits of highly effective people written by Stephen covey. They are:
– Be proactive
– Begin with the end in mind
– Put first things first
– Think win-win
– Seek first to understand than to be understood
– Synergize
– Sharpen the saw
In the evening, the clerics actively participated in holy Eucharistic celebration, rosary, and vespers. All these helped them to increase their filial devotion to God and great reverence to our lady.
On 11th, all the brothers were privileged to participate in the silver jubilee celebrations of the Sacred Heart Novitiate at Manoharabad. Most Rev. Bishop Thumma Bala had presided over the banquet of love. The day was filled with grace of God and filial intercession of dear St Joseph and Mother Mary. It was organized on a grand scale.
Felicitation and memento presentation enthused all the participants. There was a beautiful cultural programme by the novices. The sweet smile on the audience was a great adornment to the good ambiance of the celebration. After the felicitation programme, everyone had delicious banquet. Along with others the clerics dispersed to their respective houses.
