Don Bosco Guntupalli, 27 January, 2020: The Hyderabad Salesians have gathered together as a family at Guntupalli to thank God for the gift of the Provincial and his Councillors on 27th January 2020. Around 50 Salesians from around the province – clerics, brothers and priests congregated at 3.30 pm for this celebration.
Immediately, after tea and snacks, Fr James Cheruvattur, the umpire organized a volley match between the senior confreres lead by the energetic Provincial, Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar and young confreres under the dynamic leadership of Fr Santiagu Thomas, the Vice Provincial. The match was indeed a thrilling experience pouring out hidden energy and delight.
After the match, amid joyful and noisy interchange of views and news, the confreres moved to the open portico. The masters of ceremony Fr Ratna, Fr Ashok and Fr Sarath welcomed all the Salesians, brothers and clerics. Fr Nathan (the Rector, Don Bosco, Guntupalli) the host, raised a toast to the Provincial and the province, reckoning beautiful qualities of Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, the provincial and all the councillors and thanking them for their meticulous work and attentive care of every confrere and communities in the Province. The masters of ceremony lead the sharing session with fun and frolic for interminable two hours and maintained fraternal communion, mutual bond and a spirit of brotherhood.
The Eucharist was presided by the Provincial, Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, with the Provincial Councillors at the altar. Fr Provincial thanked his council and all the confreres of the province for their hard work and the contribution rendered to the province is tangibly visible in serving the youth in many ways. Fr Suresh Banda animated the mass with meaningful liturgical interventions and hymns along with brothers from Vijayawada region. Fr Peter Gopu, in his homily, expressed his views on “Community Life and today’s challenges of Individualism”. He invited everyone to match them in becoming Mystics, Prophets and Servants of the young in being in communion with each other. After Mass, a felicitation ceremony was held by Fr Pasala Bhaskar, Principal, Don Bosco School, Gunadala for the provincial and the councillors as a token of gratitude for their efforts in animating the province in a better manner. Similarly, Fr Jose Kollithanathu, Rector, Don Bosco Ongole, read out a beautiful address and thanked all of them.
Fr Chinnabathuni Showrilu, the press Manager at St Michael’s Boys Home, Guntur proposed the vote of thanks, thanking especially the host community of Don Bosco, Guntupalli, for making the Provincial Community Day a memorable and enjoyable one. Finally, the Rector, Fr Nathan said the grace before dinner and a sumptuous dinner was served with care and concern by Fr Abraham Manthuruthil, the administrator and the team. This year’s provincial community day celebration rightly empowered everyone to come together to celebrate their sense of communion to the province and their sharing in the Salesian charism.
