Don Bosco College, Narsipatnam, 9 April 2020: The March 25 lockdown has hit the poor families and lower middle-class families, who are without adequate money, food or shelter. Even the Union government’s Rs 1.7 lakh crore-relief package for those hit hardest by novel Corona Virus disease (COVID-19) has little for the affected families.

Instantly, several non-profits, volunteer organizations and even companies have initiated campaigns to feed and help the poor families in the rural and urban areas. Don Bosco College reached out to 500 poor and needy families in the areas of Teresa colony, Operation Colony, Madhala colony, Indra colony and other places with the food kit due to corona lock-out. Fr Benny, the Rector led the Salesian community to distribute the kits, which typically cost Rs 600 each, contain Rice-4Kg, Dal-1/2, Bengal Gram-1Kg, Kg, and Oil-1/2 ltr can feed a family of 5 for a week. The initiative has already spread in the Narsipatnam town and inspired everyone.
