St Anthony’s Industrial Institute, Kadapa,8 April 2020: The institute at Kadapa has been serving the poor boys from all over Telugu states in the last 46 years in their technical training. However, the Salesians respond to the outbreak of unprecedented emergencies like covid-19 pandemic too. As the virus moves to low-income countries, most worrying is the impact, it could have among vulnerable poor families and at-risk children and communities living on the fringes of society.
All the resources, support staff, partner institutions like JMJ Sisters and the faithful who attend services at the Church have joined hands to stand up firmly in solidarity and support of the most affected poor families, stranded workers, Migrant labourers living on the fringes struggling to make their way out of this emergency unscathed.
Thus, Fr Marneni Mariadas, Fr Bojja Joji along with CI Satyababu have distributed 90 Kits of provisions for the poor of Mruthyunjayakunta slum of Kadapa. They are mostly poor Muslims. Alongside, under the guidance of CI Nagabhushanam distributed 80 packets to the poor of Niranjan Nagar of Kadapa; and under the guidance of CI Ashok Reddy of Chinna Chouk distributed for 80 families. The people of Chinna Chouk mostly come for work from different states of our country. They are not locals.
