Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, 24 April 2020: Bosco Seva Kendra is the planning and development office of the province to facilitate all the social action programmes/activites in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha. In the last 27 years, BSK has been actively reaching out through its various developmental initiatives for the poor, youth, women and the marginalized communities. BSK was always responding positively during any emergencies through its relief works, either single handed or with likeminded groups who have similar vision and mission.
BSK as it rewinds its history, finds the milestones of reaching out to the victims of the fire accident (of their houses) in Ponnur Mandal, Guntur Dt, Andhra Pradesh; being of help to the Tsunami casualties and supporting them especially digging drinking water wells, education of the children, formation of the children parliaments in more than 140 villages in the coastal belts at Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna and East Godavari Districts. In addition, BSK involved in the flood disaster relief works in collaboration with CRI in Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh. Again, BSK was at the side of the people during Hudhud cyclone devastation, in providing basic amenities and helping them to revive their livelihoods. BSK raised funds during Kerala deluge from various Salesian communities and from its staff. These funds were shared among the Salesian Province of Bangalore and ATRCRI for the relief work at Kerala.
Now, the BSK staff have come forward generously with their monetary support for the relief services during Covid-19. Most of the staff have been willing to render their services even from home in this lock-down period. A few of them have spoken to their friends appealing to share in the mission of BSK, to fight against covid-19. Fr Bellamkonda Sudhakar sdb, the Executive Director, BSK is appreciative of their thoughtfulness and kindness on behalf of the management.
As BSK is active in this pandemic, it has instantaneously attracted several youngsters as volunteers since sudden lock-down. BSK has been coordinating since a month with Salesian communities, Non-governmental organizations, donor agencies, friends and well-wishers. BSK is ever grateful to them for being partners in their own capacity.
