Don Bosco, Muniguda, 11 August 2019: People and organizations involved in social development see education as indispensable for helping tribal peoples to cope with national integration. Education will also determine their prosperity, success and security in life. The tribes which remain either deprived of or negligent toward education will suffer the consequence. The tribal communities in the state of Odisha are among the least literate in India, 24% as against the national average of 63.36%; The education of the children has faced resistance to all the efforts undertaken at the national level, particularly for primary education, with drop-outs. The main causes are poverty, combined with the weight of traditions. In order to bring awareness among the adults about the importance of education and education of Children, the Don Bosco Mission, Muniguda planned to start Adult Literacy Mission in 20 tribal villages, as a pilot study, Adult Literacy was started in Kodisiru tribal Village. People in the village enthusiastically involve in the process. At present the first batch consists of 32 men and women learning odiya language.
