Assumption Church, Pezzonipet, 15 August 2019: August 15t
h was a great day for Pezzonipet parish as it celebrated the annual feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother Mary, the Patroness of the Parish. The day began with a Eucharistic Celebration during which the members of Legion of Mary renewed their promise. The National Flag was hoisted in the Church premises by Fr Bala Yesu. At 9:30 am., the independence day celebrations were organized in RCM School by Fr Vidya Sagar, the Manager of the School. Fr Thota Mariadas, the Rector and Parish Priest hoisted the flag and gave a short message on the occasion. A colourful cultural programme was staged by the students depicting the National Spirit. Around 4:30 pm, the parishioners carried the statue of Mother Mary in a procession with a musical band in the streets of Pezzonipet. In the evening at 6:30 pm., a solemn Eucharistic Celebration was concelebrated along with Msgr. Mesapam Gabriel, one of the Vicar Generals of Vijayawada Diocese. A few priests and religious and a good number of the faithful participated in the celebrations. The Church campus was beautiful with colourful lights. The highlight of the day was the special platform made with lights, to place the statue of Our Lady of Assumption which attracted many people. The youth group participated actively in the entire celebrations.
Inauguration of Digital Lab at RCM School: On this auspicious day with the support and encouragement of Fr Vidyasagar, the manager of the school, the past pupils of Don Bosco RCM School 2003-2004, generously came forward to sponsor one projector and laptop worth Rs. 50,000 to digitalize the computer lab for the use of poor students of the school. The newly renovated digital lab was dedicated the staff and students.
